CMYSA's Mission & Philosophy

Mission Statement

The Central Minnesota Youth Soccer Association is an educational, non-profit organization formed to promote, foster, and perpetuate the game of soccer for players' kindergarten through high school age.  The Central Minnesota Youth Soccer Association is a member of the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association. MYSA is affiliated with the United States Youth Soccer Association, Inc.; the United States Soccer Federation; the United States Olympic Committee, Inc.; and the Federation International de Football Association.  It shall be the mission of the Central Minnesota Youth Soccer Association to educate, provide service, promote, and stimulate interest in the game of soccer at a recreational level through competitive level.

Two commitments are essential to our mission:

  • Attract, develop, and retain people of the highest character and confidence.
  • Provide creative services to keep pace with the ever-changing needs of our players and coaches.

To this end, CMYSA is dedicated to providing the finest and most efficient service of which it is capable; to conduct its affairs in such a manner as to ensure a sound and fiscally responsible operation; and to contribute, by every means at its command, to the continuing growth and well being of the organization and those it serves.

Philosophy

CMYSA believes that local soccer organizations play a fundamental role in the on-going evolution of soccer in the United States. We take that role seriously and will endeavor to provide quality programs and resources that move motivated players along in their development of the four pillars of soccer: technical, tactical, physical, and psychological.  At the same time, CMYSA understands that children participate in youth soccer for a variety of reasons and we have a duty to the community to offer programs that encourage, excite, and energize every player, regardless of ability.

We recognize that the most important aspect of youth sports is the opportunity to teach important life-lessons learned through teamwork, effort, responsibility, and commitment.  CMYSA also understands that children learn from, and are influenced by, the adults involved in our organization.  Therefore, we demand the highest standard of behavior from every board member, director, staff member, coach, and volunteer.  An emphasis on parent and fan behavior is also important.  We all must model patience, sportsmanship, and civility for our children.

In order to accomplish our mission and philosophy, the club has placed great emphasis on the following:

·         Long term development of all players

·         Providing both recreational and competitive levels of training and games to fulfill the needs of every player despite their position on the player-development continuum.

·         Conducting age appropriate training sessions during the course of the year directed by licensed coaches and quality college players

·         Offering a year round program for both fall and spring players

·         Conducting winter training sessions for all players under the direction of licensed coaches as well as our Director of Coaching, and quality college players

·         Encouraging our coaches to further their soccer education

·         PACT (Parents & Coaches Together) training to foster a positive and motivating experience for all players
