Q. Can my child sign up with several of his friends?
A. Each rec player may request only one friend for U6 through U14 (players must both request each other). U16 - U18 can make up to 4 friend requests. The player request is an option during the on-line registration. Teams are formed in a random draw fashion with some sorting based on player experience to help create a fair/balanced distribution of playing talent among all teams participating

Q. Where do I request a coach?
A. CMYSA does not accept a player request for a specific coach.

Q: Why don’t we keep league standings for U6 - U10?
A:
Recreational soccer is designed to teach players soccer skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. Participation and fun are emphasized, not competition. If your child is interested in a more focused and competitive soccer experience, check out our “Travel” program.

Q: Why do the younger kids play small sided games?
A:
Small sided games allow for more touches for each player. This is crucial to the skill development of young players. The decision-making and tactics are also simpler in small sided games, which allow young players to learn the game more effectively. Small sided games are supported by CMYSA, MYSA and the US Soccer Federation.

Q. When can I register for rec soccer?
A.
Registration for summer 2019 rec soccer will open March 1, 2019.  Fall 2019 rec soccer will open in August 2019.

Coaching

Parent Volunteer coaches needed for each team, without your help we will not be able to function well.  CMYSA will educate each coach on rules, tactics and game management.

Coaches Needed! Support and Education Is Provided!

Our program is based primarily on parent volunteers to coach.  We need your help, please consider coaching your child.  The success of this program relies on the support of everybody.

We recognize that many of you do not have soccer experience and that is okay!  We will educate and give you the tools and the confidence to be successful.

CMYSA will be providing coaching education clinics for perspective to learn basic soccer skills, techniques, tactics and rules prior to the season.  In addition, CMYSA’s Rec Director of coaching, will be available to help every team have a fun and successful season.

Age-specific coaching handbooks can be found online at www.cmysa.org under the “Coaching Resources” tab up the top of the page.  These handbooks will assist our volunteer coaches as they take on this new challenge.
