Steps to becoming a better soccer player |
|
Whether you call it Futbol or Soccer, if you want to be good playing this beautiful game you need to understand some basic responsibilities you have as a player.
There are players all around the world who have the potential to be great players, top players, but they lack some important components in their development.....proper guidance, good practice habits and enthusiasm for the game.
STEPS:
v Work on your ball skills. As well as practicing with your team you should be practicing with your friends or by yourself; either in your backyards or in an open field. Practice juggling, although this is not directly used in game conditions it will improve your touch and comfort with the ball. Dribble with your laces using both feet. Work on special moves.
v Work on different aspects of fitness to be a fit soccer player. Endurance, speed and strength are all important to be at the top of your game. Play multiple sports, if not use your down time from soccer to fitness and weight train and develop core strength.
v Learn by Imitating. Watch professional or college soccer on TV or the internet. A great way to learn almost anything is to watch someone, who is more advanced than you, do it. Watching the top players perform the skills you are learning is fun and teaches you much about the game.
v Have a GOOD soccer ball! Have the right size soccer ball and make sure it’s properly inflated. It’s hard to improve if you don’t have your own soccer ball to practice with. BRING IT TO EVERY PRACTICE AND GAME!
v Go for the ball! Get in there, don’t just stand around, and make something happen.
v Hard work and Enthusiasm! Be part of the team to learn new skills, strive to win and have FUN!

REQUIRED CONCUSSION TRAINING FOR CMYSA COACHES |
|
CMYSA Coaches and officials are now required by law to take the free CDC online training course Concussion Training for Coaches.
www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/online_training.html
The above link leads to the training, which is located in the middle of the webpage and takes approximately 45 minutes.
This training must be completed and a copy of the printed certificate needs to be on file with the club before they may coach or officiate for the first time starting with the 2011 Fall and 2012 Summer seasons and once every three years thereafter.
The certificate of completion at the end of the training is proof the course has been taken. This certificate should be printed and a copy should be provided to Mark Helminick, the CMYSA Coaching Director, to have on file. Certificates can emailed to Mark at mark@cmysa.org or mailed to him at;

CMYSA Recreational Soccer League |
|
Before, during and at the conclusion of this years recreational soccer season CMYSA received a number of comments regarding the CMYSA summer rec soccer program. We did our best to provide good answers that were consistent with the mission of the CMYSA Recreational Soccer. Here is a brief summary of the more common questions.
- Can we have our friends all play on the same team?
- Why don’t we keep league standings?
- The games should be more competitive
- Why do the younger kids play small sided games?
- We want all the kids from one neighborhood to play together
- The teams aren’t even
- The year end tournament is not fair for the better teams
Recreation League Soccer
·Recreational soccer is designed to teach players soccer skills, teamwork and sportsmanship
·Teams are formed in a random draw for the purpose of creating a fair or balanced distribution of playing talent among all teams participating
·Participation and fun are the focus, not competition
·Emphasis on learning basic ball handling techniques in grades 1 thru 4
·Small sided games is supported by CMYSA, MYSA and US Soccer Association
·No league standings are recorded and League playoffs are random draws |
