CMYSA Player Pathway
3 Things to Know

1 - THE GOAL
The goal of the Player Pathway is to motivate and accelerate player development at the 10U-14U age levels by providing incentives and opportunities to:
- encourage players to practice at home,
- encourage players to master specific, age-appropriate soccer skills,
- increase player’s speed, stamina and agility,
- recognize and celebrate players for at-home practice, skill growth on the field, as well as demonstrating good character through sportsmanship, hard-work and leadership.
2 - HOW IT WORKS
- Each player will receive a Player Pathway tag that can be attached to their soccer bag.
- Players can earn various stickers throughout the season for things like: at-home practice, mastering new skills in practice or games, demonstrating hard work/good attitude, exhibiting good sportsmanship, leadership, etc.
- When a player receives a sticker they will add it to the blank side of their Player Pathway tag. The goal is for players to collect different stickers throughout the season.
3 - PARENTS ROLE
- At-home practice is a big part of the Player Pathway. Help your player access the instructional videos to get them started. Encouraging 10-15 minutes/day is a great place to begin. Make practicing at home a part of your weekly routine. 2-3 times a week, is a great goal when you are first getting started.
- Remind your player that hard-work, good attitude, and sportsmanship on the field are equally important to skill development. Remember to celebrate these milestones at home in addition to new soccer skills gained.
SUGGESTED PRACTICE ROUTINE
We have compiled a number of videos with recommended activities to help make your pathway journey easier. The videos are organized by age and can be accessed by clicking the buttons at the top of the page. Below are the categories along with brief suggestions for each:
- Juggling (5 Minutes a Day): If your player is new to juggling, these videos are a great place to start. Set a timer for five minutes and practice juggling. It may be frustrating at first—encourage your player to keep trying!
- 1,000 Touches Practice Videos (10 Minutes a Day): Go to the appropriate age group and select a practice video. Each video is labeled with the number of touches so players can track their at-home practice and report progress to earn stickers. Most videos are around 10 minutes long.
- Agility & Fitness Videos (10 Minutes a Day): Players can complete agility and fitness workouts to earn fitness credits. Videos for each age group can be found by clicking the buttons above.
